Speak. It types.
Anywhere.

Keypilot Voice is a voice keyboard for your desktop. Hold a key, say what you mean, and clean punctuated text appears at the cursor — in Gmail, Slack, Notion, your editor, anywhere you type.

Q3 launch plan

We shipped the first beta to a small group last week. Feedback has been steady, and the two blocking bugs are closed.

Design will need the final copy by Wednesday so the announcement can go out with the build. I will keep the changelog short and link the demo.

Listening…

Try it free with 5,000 credits — about 80 minutes of speech, renewed monthly.

01Features

Not just transcription.
A faster way to write.

Keypilot is built around the moment between thinking and typing: it keeps your vocabulary, remembers what you said, and can rewrite what you already wrote.

Dictation that lands where you type

Hold a key, speak normally, and the text appears at your cursor — in Gmail, Slack, Notion, Figma, a terminal, anywhere with a text field.

Streaming transcription starts before you finish the sentence.

Speak your edits, not just your words

Select a paragraph and say what you want: shorten it, translate it, make it formal. The rewrite replaces the selection in place.

Polishing, translating, summarizing and custom instructions.

Your names, spelled right

Add hotwords for product names, colleagues and jargon. Replacement rules fix the mistakes that keep coming back.

Hotwords are sent with the audio to bias recognition.

Local by default

History, dictionary and settings live in a local database on your machine. Export or wipe everything in one click.

Audio is streamed to the speech service only while you hold the key.

A record you can search

Every dictation is saved with duration and word count, plus a dashboard of how much typing time you got back.

Search, re-copy, or export the whole archive as JSON.

Built for a keyboard, too

Keypilot started as an open hardware voice keyboard. The same app drives it over USB or Wi-Fi when you want a physical push-to-talk key.

Optional. The app is fully usable with just a microphone.

02How it works

Three keys to a quieter keyboard

No new editor, no browser tab, no copying text around. Keypilot lives in the menu bar and writes into whatever has focus.

01

Install and sign in

Download the app, enter your email, and confirm the six-digit code. No password, no card. You start with 5,000 free credits.

02

Hold the key and talk

Put the cursor wherever the text should go and hold ⌘ Right. A capsule appears with a live transcript; release to insert.

03

Keep the words you use

Add hotwords as you go. Recognition improves with context, and your history stays searchable on your machine.

03Pricing

Pay for minutes, not seats

Speech is metered by the second, so light days cost almost nothing. Start free, buy credits when you need more — they do not expire.

04Questions

The things people ask before installing

Still unsure? Write to hello@usekeypilot.com and a human will answer.

Which platforms are supported?

macOS 12 or later on Apple silicon today, with an Intel build on request. Linux ships as AppImage and .deb. Windows 11 is in development — the global hotkey and text injection layers are being ported.

Does my voice leave my computer?

Only while you are dictating. Audio is streamed to the speech service for transcription and is not stored after the session ends. History, hotwords and settings stay in a local database you can export or delete at any time.

What do I need to run it?

A microphone and a network connection for the hosted speech service. Grant microphone access on first launch, and on macOS also grant Accessibility so the app can insert text into other applications.

How is this different from the dictation built into my OS?

Keypilot works across every app through the same hotkey, keeps a searchable history with usage stats, learns your vocabulary, and can edit a selection with a spoken instruction instead of only transcribing.

Do I need the Keypilot keyboard?

No. The keyboard is optional hardware from the same project. The app works with any microphone, and the hardware adds a physical push-to-talk key and a knob for scrolling.

How accurate is it, and which languages?

The hosted recognizer handles English and Chinese with automatic punctuation. Accuracy improves when you add hotwords for names and jargon, and you can switch to your own provider in the model hub.
